About
Lisette (NL, 1995) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Rotterdam. She is currently studying Fine Arts at Willem de Kooning. While having a background in film and installation, nowadays, her focus has shifted to ceramics and mixed media.
In her practice, she focuses on creating sculptural instruments that are inspired by ancient techniques and responsive sonic sculptures. These are mostly made from natural materials and are often hybrids between recognizable objects or phenomena and unknown shapes.
Inspired by her research into Latour and Haraway, her work speculates what alternative ways of governing could look like by mimicking modern-western political rituals and including non-human objects, giving them a literal voice. By facilitating a more equal encounter between the spectator and object, she questions the dominant position of man within these systems.
